“Call Me the Breeze” was first recorded in 1970 by JJ Cale. It was released as the opening track on his debut album Naturally in 1972. “Call Me the Breeze” is a standard 12-bar blues guitar pattern. The song has been covered by numerous artists with the Lynyrd Skynyrd and Eric Clapton versions gaining the most public acclaim.
J.J. Cale’s “Cocaine” is a very easy song to play on guitar. It basically moves back and forth between an E and D chord with an open low E string ringing out. Eric Clapton plays this at the 7th and 5th fret. At the end of the chorus the chord progression walks down from E-D-C-B at the 7th, 5th, 3rd and 2nd fret also with the low E ringing out.
